HR for Pastors and Church Leaders

About this course

Typically, HR Consultants get called into situations with churches and organizations when a situation has gotten quite challenging, and the leaders do not know what to do. At the core of the issues are often poor HR practice (usually from innocent ignorance) ends up with poor communication, conflict, people leaving the church, etc.. And so often it was very avoidable. This course represents years of working with pastors and churches through challenging situations to proactively equip pastors and leaders so they are set up to lead people well, set up helpful systems and deal with issues when they are small. The learnings outlined through this mini-course are from an HR Consultant who approaches HR through the lens of discipleship. It boils down to being clear and kind, setting clear expectations, knowing how to give good feedback (positive and hard conversations), knowing how to hold people accountable, and how to be intentional about culture. As our instructor Katie Double notes, “This mini course was designed for all my pastor friends and clients who say ‘I wish I had known this earlier in my ministry journey…’.”
